$50m security boost for religious facilities

The Albanese government is providing $50 million in 177 grants to boost security at religious schools, places of worship and community facilities. The funding comes amid warnings from intelligence agencies of the increased prospect of civil unrest as a result of the war between Israel and Hamas.

The Securing Faith-Based Places program announced yesterday includes funding of security guards and security infrastructure, including cameras, lights and fencing.
