2009 Australian Security Industry Awards for Excellence

The Australian Security Industry Awards for Excellence are Australia’s premier security awards program. Entering their 14th year, the awards recognise outstanding individuals and organisations within the security industry.
Entries will be shortlisted by desk audit to ensure that they adhere to criteria set out for each award category. The shortlisted nominations will then be assessed by an independent panel of judges (chaired by a member of the ASIAL Board). The judges’ decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into before or after the judging has taken place.
Entering the ASIAL awards can gain you the recognition you deserve. They also serve as an independent benchmark of the quality of your work.

Awards dinner - Thursday 30th April 2009, Crown Casino, Melbourne

The Australian Security Industry Awards dinner promises to be a night to remember. The evening has been designed to celebrate and showcase the achievements of security professionals across Australia.
Held in conjunction with the Association’s 40th Anniversary celebrations, the Awards dinner will provide an excellent networking opportunity. Both corporate table bookings and individual tickets are available.
The 2009 Australian Security Industry Awards dinner will be held on Thursday 30th April 2009 in the River Room at Crown Casino, Melbourne.

By applying for an award you are making a strong statement about your organisation’s commitment to raising the level of professionalism within the security sector, whilst at the same time acknowledging the contribution of those involved,.
Finalists and winners will gain independent recognition of the standards to which they work and will receive publicity at special events during the course of the year, including Security 2009, Security Insider magazine and First Alert online newsletter.
Insignias will also be made available for use on letterheads and promotional materials for a two-year period.

Individual Achievement Award
The individual achievement award recognises excellence within the security guarding sector of the industry, including service to the customer and outstanding act.
|
The awards recognise the outstanding commitment and professionalism of frontline security personnel. They also acknowledge the diverse and challenging environments of the modern security officer and the very real difference their continued efforts make to the day-to-day lives of ordinary people.
|
The awards will be presented to individuals who have demonstrated that they have gone beyond what could reasonably have been expected of them in providing a level of service that exceeds the client’s expectations.
• Nominations must be endorsed by a letter of support from their employer and/or client.
• Applications must include a statement outlining in no more than 600 words the outstanding customer service or outstanding act performed by the individual. The statement should include::
- Demonstrated evidence of the individual’s Customer service
- Evidence of an incident or occasion where the individual has performed an outstanding act or demonstrated bravery beyond the call of duty.
• Applicants must provide names and contacts of two referees to allow for further discussion
• Judging will take place in March 2009 with winners announced at National Awards Dinner on Thursday 30th April 2009.

Security Manager Award
|
The Security Manager award will be presented to an individual who has demonstrated excellence in a senior security management role, and who has proven his or her ability to inspire and lead by example. This category is for security managers who are employed directly by the company whose assets they are responsible for.
• Nominations must be endorsed by a letter of support from the CEO or General Manager of the organisation.
• Nominations must include a statement outlining in no more than 600 words how the individual has provided leadership and direction to ensure t hat the strategic security imperatives of the organization have been met. The statement should cover practical evidence of
- How the individual has effectively managed complex security issues that have threatened the organization..
- Initiatives implemented by the individual to protect the people, property, and information of the organization.
• Applicants must provide names and contacts of two referees to allow for further discussion
• Judging will take place in March 2009 with winners announced at National Awards Dinner on Thursday 30th April 2009.

In-House Security Team Award
|
The In-House Security Team award will be presented to the in-house security team that has demonstrated collective excellence in delivering the security strategy for their organization.
|
Submissions should address:
• Company background – brief company background (ie size, scope, nature of business and key personnel).
• Strategic planning – explanation of how the organization develops and implements its strategic security direction.
• Professionalism – what quality assurance mechanisms does the organization have in place to ensure that its’ security team not only meets, but exceeds what is expected of it?
• Innovation – provide examples of how the security team’s innovative approach to problem solving has enabled it to tailor solutions that ensure the strategic imperatives of the business are met.

Training Award
This recognizes innovation and excellence in the development and/or delivery of a training initiative or program that promotes sound working practices in the security sector.
Submissions should address:
• Company background – brief company history (ie when established, size, scope of business, nature of clients, senior management and key personnel).
• Culture and people – what differentiates the company from its competitors?
• Innovation – provide evidence of innovation in the design and delivery of training provided.
• Commitment to customer service and continuous improvement – what systems and procedures do you have in place to ensure continuous improvement in the delivery of training services?
• Training outcomes – how do you measure the satisfaction of customers with the training you provide?
• Raising standards – what training program or initiative best illustrates how your organization is helping to raise training standards in the security industry?

Integrated Security Solution
|
The Integrated Security Solution Award is presented to an organisation that has demonstrated innovation and excellence in the integration of electronic security systems with each other and/or with human actions. The award applies to major security installations completed within the past 12 months.
Submissions should address:
• Company background – brief company history (ie when established, size, scope of business, nature of clients, key personnel).
• Scope of installation – provide a brief overview of the key objectives of the installation, including any unique technical complexities or challenges that were overcome..
• Project management – outline the key timelines and project management challenges that had to be met to complete the installation.
• Innovation – provide evidence of how innovative solutions were used to meet the key project outcomes.
• Project outcomes – outline some of the measurable benefits delivered by the installation following completion of the project.

Critical Infrastructure Security Award
The Critical Infrastructure Security Award recognizes an organization that has made an outstanding contribution to the area of critical infrastructure security. Submissions should address:
• Company background – brief company history (ie when established, size, scope of business, nature of clients, key personnel)..
• Knowledge and understanding of the market – outline how you have used your knowledge and understanding of the security environment to deliver an effective security solution.
• Professionalism – what quality assurance systems does the organization have in place to ensure that it meets its responsibilities to clients and the community.
• Innovation – provide examples of your innovative approach to problem solving that has enabled you to tailor solutions that help to protect the nation’s critical infrastructure.
