ASA/NZS 2201
Recently all portions of the AS/NZS 2201 suite have been upgraded and members should make themselves familiar with all parts as set out below.
- AS/NZS 2201.1:2007 – Client’s premises – Design, installation, commissioning and maintenance. This is now Risk Based with five (5) Classes of systems depending on the risk profile.
- AS 2201.2:2004 – Monitoring centres It is no longer acceptable to say you ‘meet’ this Standard. Monitoring Centres need to be independently inspected and certified for compliance with AS 2201.2 to be cleared to use many of the respective States’/Territories’ Police/emergency services priority call facilities, and maintain licensing and Insurance requirements.
- AS/NZS 2201.5:2008 – Alarm transmission systems. This also has five (5) Classes of systems as per AS/NZS 2201.1 above, and needs to be understood when assessing a replacement for Securitel.
- AS 4421:1996 Guards and Patrols – Manpower and response. This standard is currently being upgraded so that response times can be matched to Classes of alarm systems using suitably trained personnel, licensed correctly for the job being performed.
