Centre for Compliance



The Centre for Compliance is an initiative developed to provide a comprehensive resource centre for the Australian security industry. The aim of the Centre is to provide access to information that will assist security operators in meeting their compliance obligations.
These include:

  • to develop and enhance skills in range of critical industry and general business areas
  • to comply with regulatory training requirements
  • to meet continuing professional development requirements
  • to undertake nationally recognised formal qualifications
  • to undertake accredited short courses

Licensing


Security industry licensing is usually controlled and applied by either state or territory police or by Departments of Fair Trading and Consumer Affairs.

Legislation / Regulations


Legislation is the act of making or enacting laws. Regulations are the way that the legislation is applied. Security legislation and regulations are different for each state and territory.

Codes / Standards


There are a number of standards for the security industry. ASIAL has a code of conduct for members and other codes relating to marketing of security products etc.

Professional Development & Training


Attracting and retaining quality security personnel is a growing challenge for many businesses. Even if you are unable to offer further opportunities within the workplace, all businesses should be able to offer professional development.

Certification


ASIAL operates a grading scheme for alarm monitoring centres. This is a well respected system of independent inspections that check compliance with Australian Standard 2201.2:2004 (Intruder Alarm Systems - Monitoring Centres).
